Digital Equipment Online Courses
The following digital equipment courses are offered by WVIZ/PBS ideastream. Each of these courses costs $120 and is worth 15 contact hours. In this course, participants will learn essential skills for using the TurningPoint student response system and TurningPoint AnyWhere in the classroom. As a result of actively participating in this workshop, they will understand the purpose and practical uses of a student response system. Participants will learn how to install the software and use their hardware. They will create basic slides, and insert commonly used objects to enhance presentations. Participants will use the Participant List Wizard to create participant list. They will be able to run and save presentation. They will also be able to retrieve data to view reports. Finally, they will investigate existing resources that will work well with TurningPoint AnyWhere.

In this course participants will learn how to create more advanced presentations including: priority ranking, creating competitions, comparative links and picture slides. The will be able to tie standards to questions, use demographic comparison slides, and create lessons that can be used in class. Participants will create Turning-Talk accounts and learn how to use Question Point and other parsers so they can create presentations quickly. They will also explore the TestingPoint software and learn how to create tests. Participants will learn how to use the data collected to differentiate instruction. They will investigate the benefits of student response systems in the classroom and implement a plan of action.

In this workshop, teachers will learn essential skills for using an interactive whiteboard in the classroom. As a result of actively participating, participants will understand the purpose and practical uses of an interactive whiteboard. They will learn how to install the software and use their hardware. They will understand the basics of the Mimio Notebook and Toolbar including: formatting objects, reviewing Gallery content and importing documents into the Notebook. The will learn to incorporate multimedia files (video, flash and audio clips) into their lessons. They will be able to use the screen annotation feature with other interactive programs and applications such as the spotlight, reveal and text tools to enhance presentations. Finally, participants will create a user account on Mimio Connect to review and share resources.
- This course is designed to assist teachers in developing lesson plans and classroom activities while integrating the Flip videocamera in the classroom.
- This online course is 15 contact hours and is designed to further applications, activities, and discussion regarding use of the digital camera in the classroom. A required prerequisite is participation in a face-to-face digital camera course through WVIZ/PBS, either at the Idea Center, or in a district setting.
